Yes, Umling-La at 19,024 feet (5640 meters) is officially recognized as the world's highest motorable pass, surpassing the previous record held by Khardung-La. It's located in the Ladakh region and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding Himalayan ranges.
This is a moderate to challenging adventure tour due to high altitudes (up to 5640m). Travelers should be in good health, have previous high-altitude experience, and be prepared for long drives on rough terrain. We provide medical oxygen support and experienced drivers to ensure safety.
We handle all required permits including Inner Line Permits for Ladakh, and special permits for Hanle and Umling-La regions. You need to provide passport copies (for foreigners) or ID proof (for Indians) and passport-sized photographs in advance.
In Hanle, we provide comfortable homestays or basic guesthouses. These are clean and warm, but facilities are basic due to the remote location. Hot water, electricity (limited hours), and home-cooked meals are provided. This is part of the authentic Ladakhi experience.
The ideal time is June to September when roads are clear and weather is relatively stable. July-August offers the best weather but more tourists. September offers clear skies and fewer crowds. The route to Umling-La is accessible only during these months.
We use 4x4 SUVs like Toyota Fortuner, Mahindra Scorpio, or similar vehicles with experienced drivers. These vehicles are essential for the rough terrain to Umling-La and remote areas. All vehicles are equipped with necessary safety equipment and communication devices.
