Note: If you start your journey from Manali side, Rohtang will be first Pass you will encounter where Tanglang La will be first one if you starts from opposite side that is Leh.


1. Rohtang Pass

Rohtang Pass or Rohtang La is first High Altitude Himalayan Pass on Manali-Leh Highway which comes between the stretch of Marhi and Sissu. It belongs to Kullu Valley of Kullu District, Himachal Pradesh, India. It is one of the most Popular High Altitude Himalayan Passes of Indian Himalayas. Rohtang Pass is favorite destination for Tourist & Travelers across the world.

Altitude: 3,980 Mtr (13,060 ft)

Distance from Manali & Leh: 52.3 Kms. from Manali & 421 Kms. from Leh.

Distance from nearest places on Manali-Leh Highway: 17.3 Kms. of uphill ascent on Hairpin bend roads will lead to Rohtang La and 19 Kms. of descent from Rohtang La will lead to Koksar of Lahaul Valley from Kullu Valley of Himachal Pradesh.

2. Baralachala Pass

Baralacha La is second High Altitude Himalayan Pass on Manali-Leh Highway which comes between the stretch of Zing Zing Bar and Bharatpur. It belongs to Lahaul Valley of Lahaul & Spiti District, Himachal Pradesh, India.

Altitude: 5,030 Mtr (16,500 ft)

Distance from Manali & Leh: 191 Kms. from Manali & 282 Kms. from Leh.

Distance from nearest places on Manali-Leh Highway: 18 Kms. of steady uphill climb from Zing Zing Bar will lead to Baralacha La and 2 Kms. of descent will lead to Bharatpur on Manali-Leh Highway.

Best time to visit: Mid May to Mid November

3. Nakeela Pass

Nakee La is third High Altitude Himalayan Pass on Manali-Leh Highway which comes between the stretch on Sarchu and Whisky Nalla (Bisky Nala). It belongs to Ladakh region of Leh District, U.T Ladakh, India.

Altitude: 4,739 Mtr (15,547 ft)

Distance from Manali & Leh: 259 Kms. from Manali & 214 Kms. from Leh.

Distance from nearest places on Manali-Leh Highway: 35.9 Kms. of scenic journey from Sarchu via Incredible 21 Hairpin bend climbs of Gata Loops will lead to Nakee La and 11.7 Kms. of descent will lead to Bisky Nala on Manali-Leh Highway.

4. Lachung la Pass

Lachung La is fourth High Altitude Himalayan Pass on Manali-Leh Highway which comes between the stretch of Whisky Nalla and Pang. It belongs to Ladakh region of Leh District, U.T Ladakh, India.

Altitude: 5,065 Mtr (16,616 ft)

Distance from Manali & Leh: 278 Kms. from Manali & 195 Kms. from Leh.

Distance from nearest places on Manali-Leh Highway: 7.1 Kms. of uphill climb on Zig Zig roads will lead to Lachung La and 21.6 Kms. of descent with offroading on Muddy roads of Ladakh region will lead to Pang on Manali-Leh Highway.

5. Tanglang la Pass

Tanglang La is fifth High Altitude Himalayan Pass on Manali-Leh Highway which comes between the stretch of Debring and Rumtse. It belongs to Ladakh region of Leh District, U.T Ladakh, India.

Altitude: 5,328 Mtr (17,480 ft)

Distance from Manali & Leh: 365 Kms. from Manali & 108 Kms. from Leh.

Distance from nearest places on Manali-Leh Highway: 14.2 Kms. of uphill climb in the midst of Ladakhi Landscapes will lead to Tanglang La and 31.9 Kms. of downhill journey will lead to Rumtse on Manali-Leh Highway.
