Located 14 km North of Bhutan lies the artistic Tango Monastery. Also regarded also the scholarly institute among the Buddhist monks as it is the highest center of learning for Buddhism in the country. The fascinating threads of tradition go back more than 300 years as every Je Khenpo (religious leader of Bhutan) has to complete the 9-year higher education program there. After this duration, Buddhist monks are required to spend 3 years, 3 months, and 3 days in meditation at the nearby Cheri Goemba Monastery.
