Situated 18 km from the popular Spiti Valley town of Kaza, Komik Monastery is built in the small village of Komik in Himachal Pradesh. Perched at a dizzying altitude of 15,000 feet above sea level, this monastery is a part of the highest village in Asia with a motorable road. The Komik Monastery is believed to be more than 500 years old, and with a rule that doesn’t allow women to enter within the monastery.
The locals are of the belief that the future Buddha resides in the monastery and guides the village and its people. The undeniable beauty and serenity of this place can be tough to comprehend for the body, but definitely a soothing influence to the mind.
